  • Feel at home in the Village

Singapore, with its history of immigration, is a melting pot of cultures – just take a walk around ethnic neighbourhoods and you’ll see that reflected in their architecture and streetscapes. Feel like a local as you wander through the main roads and alleyways of these areas and retire to a Village hotel in the vicinity when you’re done for the day. Not sure which one to pick? We give you the lowdown on what you can expect at each of them.

    Village Hotel Katong

Village’s flagship hotel plays off the distinctive Peranakan heritage of the Joo Chiat and Katong districts in the east of Singapore, home to numerous colourful shophouses boasting ornate facades and patterned ceramic tiles. Descendants to the Straits Chinese, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Dutch influences in their heritage, the Peranakans are known for their taste for vibrant colours and rich, flavourful food. Come home to the hotel’s club rooms, which feature Peranakan-style furnishings and décor in warm blue tones, and enjoy daily breakfast and evening cocktails in the Peranakan Lounge during your stay.

Hungry for more? Then eat to your heart’s content at the Halal-certified Katong Kitchen on level 4, and walk off the calories later with some retail therapy at the adjacent Katong V mall. The hotel also comes with an outdoor swimming pool and gym for the serious fitness types, and you’re never too far from anywhere with complimentary shuttle services to the airport, East Coast Park and the neighbouring industrial estates.

    Village Hotel Changi

Fall asleep to the sounds of nature when you stay at the Village Hotel Changi, situated in Singapore’s rustic eastern end surrounded by lush greenery. Located a mere 10-minute drive from the airport, this hotel provides you with an excellent base to explore Singapore’s scenic wonders away from the bustling city. Enjoy picturesque views of the sea when you stay at a Club Room, which includes complimentary buffet breakfast in the executive lounge, as well as evening cocktails.

To cool off in the heat, take a dip in the Creek Pool on the ground floor, or in the Infinity Pool on the eighth floor, where you can soak up breathtaking views of planes as they make their final descent. The hotel’s shuttle buses will whisk you to the airport, Changi Business Park, Loyang Industrial Estate and downtown, and you’re just a short boat ride away from experiencing kampung life on the offshore island of Pulau Ubin.

    Village Hotel Bugis

Sitting at the crossroads of Singapore’s Arab, Peranakan and Indian enclaves, you’ll notice a blend of cultural influences when you stay at the Village Hotel Bugis – most evident in its interior décor and cuisine. From here, you’re only a short walk to the malls of Bugis, the hip boutiques and cafes of Arab Street where the heart of alternative youth culture resides, as well as fantastic Indian cuisine in Little India. Spoilt for choice? Read on!

Explore Bugis Street, Singapore’s biggest street shopping location. With almost 800 shops, ranging from retail, to beauty care, to food, the permanent and fully air-conditioned flea market has something for everyone. Alternatively, go on a food trail down Haji Lane - be sure make a stop at CAD Cafe - short for “Coffee/Art/Design”, the cafe is known for its coffee, freshly pressed juices, and tasty bites. Artistically-inclined folks would want to check out the premium fabrics available on Arab Street, especially embroidered lace, silk, and pashmina.

    Village Hotel Albert Court

Located a stone’s throw away from Singapore’s cultural concentrations of Little India, Bras Basah and Dhoby Ghaut, the décor of Village Hotel Albert Court pays tribute to the colonial days. Housed in a conservation shophouse dating back to pre-war days, this charming hotel blends history with the contemporary.

From here, you’re only a short walk to the buzzing historic district of Little India. Lose yourself in its maze of streets that are lined with shops selling everything from spices, saris to silverware, alongside Indian restaurants as well as Hindu and Chinese temples. It’s a cacophony of sights and sounds!

Adventure can be exhausting, so chill out in one of the hotel’s two four-seater Jacuzzis, or enjoy a quiet moment at the expansive courtyard. If you’re still feeling restless, expend your excess energy at the hotel’s gym, fully equipped with treadmills, weights and cycles.

The hotel’s Superior and Deluxe rooms have recently been upgraded to include timber flooring and rain shower features but if you’re looking for a treat, indulge yourself in one of the hotel’s Club Rooms for exclusive access to the Club Lounge.
