Singapore, 17 January 2014 – Far East Hospitality today unveils the transformation of Rendezvous Hotel Singapore after injecting art-inspired elements across multiple experiential points for guests. Located at the heart of Singapore’s art and cultural district, the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore is Far East Hospitality’s third hotel launch after the AMOY and Village Hotel Katong.
The art-centric relaunch offers a canvas of unlimited opportunities to connect hospitality with art. In addition to bridging the gap for travelers who enjoy immersing in an artistic environment, the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore is primed to be an art hothouse via collaborations with budding and professional artists from Singapore and around the world.
“Entrenched in the Museum Planning Area of Singapore, Rendezvous Hotel Singapore offers its guests convenient access to several popular art galleries and museums. The location made it an easy and natural decision to create a sensory experience that is in line with Singapore’s promotion of the arts and cultural precinct in the Civic District,” said Mr Arthur Kiong, Chief Executive Officer of Far East Hospitality. “Guests who are looking to experience creative stimulus will be thrilled to find that our hotel is dedicated to evoking the sense and sensibility of their inner artist.”
Creating a State of the Art
In reflecting the hotel’s vibrant energy and new artistic personality, Far East Hospitality redesigned several guest touchpoints into a visual spectacle of art with the use of technology. Upon entering the hotel, guests will be greeted by a floor-to-ceiling wall panel behind the reception counter that displays varying color tones throughout the day. In addition, the reception area subtly transforms its color palette from warm orange, purple and magenta to reflect a sense of vibrant excitement during the day, to a soothing, classy warm yellow, cyan and deep blue during the evening.
As an active participant of the local arts scene, Rendezvous Hotel Singapore will offer dedicated spaces to showcase collaborations with local art galleries. This is further enabled by the use of technology, where motorized drapes and tracks are installed in the hotel lobby and level two gallery spaces to facilitate art and design-related exhibitions. The bodies of work on display will be made available for guests to view and purchase. The hotel façade facing the junction of Orchard, Stamford and Bras Basah roads will also be transformed into a piece of interactive anamorphic art where pedestrians will be able to see the intended composition at a specific spot diagonally across the street.
In creating stronger synergy across art-related organizations, guests will enjoy special entry rates to museums in the vicinity simply by presenting their key cards at the respective ticketing counters. The attractions currently include free entry to featured exhibitions at The Asian Civilisation Museum as well as special entry rates to the Singapore Philatelic Museum. The partnership in promoting art in Singapore was also extended to design students from Raffles College of Higher Education. More than 15 students were invited to submit their design interpretations of Rendezvous Hotel Singapore. The best design was created by final year students, Ms Alessandra Nita Widjaja, Ms Xu Ye Qiu and Ms Evelyn Widjaja, after garnering the highest number of online votes on Far East Hospitality’s Facebook page. The winning design will be incorporated into Rendezvous Hotel Singapore’s production of gift and stationery items.
